Soufflés, Fillets of Sole Meuniére, Créme Anglaise

and all kinds of yummy dishes made purely from the heart (or in my case.... shall I say from the cookbook?) So onto a new challenge I've given myself. Make a new AND different dish every week for the family for 6 months and document it with a recipe a pic and the Niu fab five ratings! Two rules I have to follow. Rule #1 The dish has to be something I have never made before preferably cuisine from a different country. Rule #2 it MUST have somewhat of a fancy name, sorry guys Hamburger Helper although I do love the little hand guy........ he doesn't qualify........ So as I set off with a little help from Emeril, Paula Deen and Rachel Ray I think I'll set the stage with a classic Ms. Julia Child herself and her famous "Strawberry Crêpes Dessert" which I hear are toooo DIE for mmmmmmmm yummy......... I'll be sure to post the recipe and the "Niu Fab Five Ratings" just in case any of you want to try it out yourself.

A tad bit of Kristi history. Once upon a time myself and a friend had a catering business here in town. We did everything from luncheons to dinner parties. What a fun business. Here's to great food!

Happy 11th Birthday Taylor!

God made the world with its towering trees,
majestic mountains and restless seas,
then paused and said, "It needs one more thing."
Someone to laugh and dance and sing,
to walk in the woods and gather flowers,
to commune with nature in quiet hours.
So God made little girls
with laughing eyes and bouncing curls,
with joyful hearts, and beautiful smiles,
enchanting ways and feminine wiles.
And when He'd completed the task He'd begun,
he was pleased and proud of the job He'd done.
For the world when seen through a little girl's eyes
greatly resembles paradise.

The day we brought you home. We had no fancy cameras, very little of anything as a matter of fact. Your Dad and I just new we were in love with each other and now completely absorbed in this amazing little person that was just given to us

Your were this tiny Little being that always attracted people around you. Always so easy and such a delight to have as a baby

You grew pretty quick! You may not believe it now but you were the chubbiest baby out of your brother and sister. So darling

Here you are just before your first birthday, This was your very first party it was at Peter Piper and it was your cousin Brett's 1st birthday party. Who would have ever known how close you two would become.

To the day you and your sister are only 14 months apart and from the beginning you have been best friends. I was told when Tally came that you would get jealous, that never happened. You have always been such a big wonderful sister and I am so thankful for that. Even remotely OK when Tally is trying to put the hose down your pants!
Photobucket

I have lots of memories of you three when you were little. When I brought Scott home from the hospital you were still in Diapers!
Photobucket

Growing growing growing. Back then I never thought this day would come. I cant help wonder were the time went?
Photobucket

There were so many fun times with you. But I must say your laugh is my favorite. Never has there been a laugh that is more contagious
Photobucket

Thank you for all the little notes and drawings you have given to me. I came across a box full of them from the time you were tiny. You are so creative and have so many talents, be sure you always continue with those amazing talents
Photobucket

Always doing something. Remember when you and Tally dressed up Scott in your clothes...........
Photobucket

And of course the apple of your Daddy's eye. Even when he does drive us crazy while doing homework
Photobucket

I'll never forget the last lunch you let me share with you and your friends this year at school. How wonderful and sad at the same time. You have grown way to fast. I know you will be exceptional in junior high this fall!
Photobucket

Here you are accepting the Presidents Award for the 5th grade high academic achievement. Be proud of your accomplishments you deserve to feel good about all that you have achieved. I hope you always keep that drive to be your best.

This was the last time you and Tally would ever walk together at PDS, this was the last morning of school this past year. I had to hold back crying when I took this. The last day of grade school and on to middle school, wow! This is a moment that I thought would never come so quickly.

And here we are today. Such a smart and beautiful girl Heavenly Father has given to our family. 11 years ago, Dad and I were in the Sierra Vista hospital hearing those amazing words "It's a girl!" You have been more than we ever hoped or dreamed of. You are an amazing young women who every day makes me smile. I love you so much and am so thankful for you. Dad and I want to wish you a very Happy 11th Birthday! We love you!

APERTURE/ WHITE BALANCE/SHUTTER SPEED uuhhGG!!!!

Honestly, I had noooo idea how many settings there could be on a camera! Just about 18 months ago I was shooting with my $90 Kodak digital camera (might I add it was the first digital I had ever had.) I was loving taking pics so much that the hubby and I decided to get a better one. That is when I met Nikon (my main squeeze lately.) Anyway, I have been getting a few lessons on how to work with creating my own settings, up until now I have shot in aperture which I loved because all I needed to worry about was yep you guessed it "the aperture." So after a lesson or two and a few articles on working with different settings I finally took a few test shots that came out kinda cool.

Here are my girls, I did bump up the colors a bit in my editing system, but I found working in a mode that gives me more control I was able to really kick out some great color that gave the picture way more depth!
Photobucket

It wasn't until a friend mentioned this was the key to fine tuning her photo's that I realized that the picture on my camera screen is a bit lighter then when I get it in my computer system. I think this will help me a TON now when I'm out doing shoots. Until I was told to upload my pics and then stick the card back in my camera to view both at the same time I never got the reality of the difference in the camera screen and computer screen. Believe me do this it totally helps! In this picture I went with a softer look and did some playing with the white balance in the camera.
Photobucket

I love to focus on the eyes when I'm shooting. I have read tons of material that debate the best place of the face to focus on, but for me personally the eyes are my favorite.
