Dear Scotty......................

Please for at least the next 10 years try to refrain from breaking anymore bones. The first time when you were 1 your sister Taylor pushed you off the table and you had to wear an itty-bitty cast that you hated and tried to take off all by yourself. (I still have the splint) Poor Buddy........ Then it happened again when you were five at the Lane family Christmas party, Aunt Kathy and Uncle Brian got you Heelys and you immediately put them on went out in Uncle Eric's backyard and crashed and burned on his flagstone. This time resulting in TWO surgeries...... (Yes I still have the rod that they put in and took out its with your baby splint.) And this brings us to the present time or shall I say a week ago Thursday, when it happened AGAIN at your second soccer game of the year. Before I could stop it all Mom saw was you flying in the air and SMACK down on your arm you went. Sure enough both bones in the left arm totally broken clean through. Three FREAK accidents on the same arm is plenty! Please little man after surgery this Friday lets try to take it easy. I know you say you will be back and ready to play the hardest team this season "The Extremes" but I think we should all take a breather for the season. Your only eight years old and have broken your same arm three times have had 2 surgeries soon to be three and are still the roughest toughest kid I know. If for no other reason than the fact that CPS will be soon breaking in my door, PLEASE take it easy and lets try to stay unfractured until your eighteenth birthday.
Love you,

Mom

I hope they call me on a mission when I have grown a foot or two.

I was so excited to spend the evening with Troy, Judy and their kids. Jackson their oldest is leaving on his mission in a couple of weeks and they asked me to come and take their family picture before he left. I knew when I went to do this shoot that I wanted to capture something more than just a "family picture" for them. Everyone seems to have that perfect family picture hanging on their wall at home, but what I wanted and I think what they wanted were not just ordinary pictures, but images that show the unbreakable spirit and love of this family. As I watched the closeness and the awareness that soon their son/brother would be leaving for two years to serve the lord I saw the bond of a family that is so strong and complete and I was touched and inspired and thankful that I have such great examples to help guide me with my own three kids. To Troy, Judy and kids I just want you to know that I think you are ALL amazing. Thank you so much for letting me share in this wonderful and inspirational time in your family's life. I love you guys so much!

What an appropriate day for her birthday!

How funny that today is International Peace Day as well as Tally's Birthday! This kid is the ultimate example of peace. I have never met a child so sweet and kind to others (I'm not just saying that.) Tally has always had an amazing ability to bring peace wherever she is. Our home would often be a war zone between Taylor and Scott if Tally wasn't here. Tally makes everyone feel special and never says negative things about or too others. She is always happy and content. Whenever we are at family gatherings and friends houses all the little kids want to play with Tally, everyone seems to be drawn to her sweet spirit. What an amazing gift she is to our family. I love this kid so much she is so talented and wonderful. I was able to take Tally with me this weekend to Phoenix for a photo shoot I was doing and we were able to celebrate a little pre-birthday girls vacation for her. We spent time with Uncle Troy and Judy's family, went to build a bear workshop. Had tons of time to shop and ate giant ice cream cones with EXTRA chocolate sprinkles. I even snuck in some pictures of my 10 year old beautiful daughter. Tally thank you so much for being my little buddy. Thank you for always trying to be kind to others, thank you for being the peacemaker in our home, thank you for your amazing art that you always make for Dad and I. But most of all, thank you for being you, your perfect just the way you are! Happy 10th Birthday Tally we love you!

When I'm old and grey how do I want to remember my little boy?

I want to remember him just the way he was tonight. His scruffy little hair cut he refuses to let us trim, the dirt that constantly collects under his eight year old nails, his big brown eyes and my favorite thing about my son are his darling little freckles that seem to increase one per night (every morning there seems to be a new one) and we go through the ritual of mommy kissing the freckle and saying "oh buddy you got another angel kiss last night" He of course laughs and for a brief moment I still have my little boy. Then he's off kicking, throwing or bouncing something around the house. Tonight was opening ceremonies for Soccer and I just couldn't resist a few pictures of Scotty.

The Infamous Tooth Fairy......

For the last several years the Tooth Fairy has been a regular at our home. She has been pretty accurate close to 90% of the time showing up when she's supposed too. There have however been a few times that she was a no-show. There was week when Taylor waited like 3 nights before the silly thing remembered and like the time about a month ago when Tally lost her 11th tooth. Tally woke up and realized no visit..... Then Mom woke up and realized uh oh............ Needless to say Tally went to the bathroom came out and voila the tooth fairy mysteriously and very quickly came and went. Yep, that darn Tooth Fairy must have been really busy that night. Scott said "she probably got a start on the other side of the world and was just getting to us,her next stop must be Hawaii!" You gotta it give to people like the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause and Mr. Easter Bunny they have a tough job! Thank goodness us parents don't have to worry about that stuff:) So tonight we are expecting our zillionth visit from Fairy world. Scott lost his 7th tooth today at school after biting into a carroteenie at lunch. He was especially happy the way it came out because in his words " Mom it landed in some guys tray!" Here's our happy little munchkin showing off his "Niu" look.
